What a difficult task, making a list of the 500 greatest albums of all time while there is so many really good music out there. Rolling Stone Magazine did an attempt and to tell you the truth, most of these 500 albums are either in my collection or on my bucket list. So as far as I’m concerned they did a really great job! Word of advice to the really obsessed audiophile out there only thinking about sound quality and forgetting about the larger musical context: these albums are not selected for their “audiophile quality” nor are they “reference recordings”. But please don’t let this be an issue or spoil your fun. In my opinion these 500 albums represent a much greater value to the music scene than any reference recording ever could. So, if you’re out of inspiration and looking for descent music, this is a good place to start.
