When I bought the Velleman K4000 I didn’t have any speakers yet so my father gave me a donation: his old loudspeakers which were custom built way back in the seventies. Those speakers really looked awful. (and so does the picture above, taken with a cheap camera this was the only picture I was able to find in my archives). The loudspeakers were stored in a garden shack for several years and they had a lot to endure. But optics aren’t everything. Those speakers gave me quite some satisfaction back then. They had a very smooth sounding bass and caught the warmth of the Velleman with quite some charm. But they were not very accurate and didn’t reproduce a lot of resolution or transparency. So, they were not anywhere near “high end”, but in those days neither was my taste. So for the time being they played just fine!
